38: Charles Dickens twice-signed handwritten letter

Sale price£4,995
In stock

A handsome handwritten letter (9 x 7.25 inches) from Charles Dickens.

Written in his typically flowing hand in black ink, signed with his much-loved underlined signature at the foot and in less animated fashion beneath the address.

Dickens writes to an acquaintance in December 1841:

My dear sir,

Regret that I am prevented by matters which I must attend to from coming today.

I will be with you tomorrow at 12.

Faithfully yours,

Charles Dickens

1841 was the year Dickens wrote The Old Curiosity Shop. As such, this is a wonderfully timely piece of Dickens handwritten history, bearing not one but two Dickens signatures.
