Indian Convention States Faridkot 1887-98 4a olive-green, error "SERV CE" overprint, SGO8a.
A brilliant quality mint example, well-centred and with original gum.
A great rarity, and in superb condition, being much the finer of just two examples recorded. The other example is toned with only part original gum. This major rarity of the Indian States is also absent from the Royal Philatelic Collection.
The typographic error during the overprint process omitted the central "I", creating this visually striking and philatelically significant error.
Provenance: Ex. Sturton Collection.
Stanley Gibbons catalogue value: £5,000.
