A striking and scarce colour trial for the King George V 1d definitive (Die 2), printed in a vivid red vermilion shade and perforated 14.8 × 14 on Crown watermarked paper.
This example is from the upper-left corner of the sheet, showing wide original selvedge with a contemporary pencil annotation "Red Verm", confirming the intended colour designation used during production.
Superbly fresh with full original unmounted mint gum, and exceptionally well-preserved for a trial of this period, which often survive with gum disturbance or trimmed margins.
A highly desirable example of the experimental printings undertaken prior to finalising the 1912 definitive colour palette.
