Great Britain 1882 (3.11.82) 6d Grey Plate 18 "I.R. OFFICIAL", SGO4
A very fine unmounted mint top marginal horizontal strip of four, lettered 'AA–AD', with full original gum. Prominently features the central sheet ornament in the top margin, adding significant visual and philatelic appeal.
While some light gum creasing is present, as often found on these official issues, the overall condition remains fresh, clean, and remarkably well-presented for this scarce multiple.
An impressive and hard-to-find positional piece from the Inland Revenue Official overprint series.
The Inland Revenue Official stamps were used by revenue officials in the provinces, mail to and from Head Office passing without a stamp. The London Office used these stamps only for foreign mail.
