This striking proof showcases the early design concept for the issued 6d stamp, with the portrait of Queen Victoria framed within a finely engraved hexagon, and inscriptions reading POSTAGE and SIX PENCE.
Only two or three examples of each colour are believed to exist, making this an exceptional rarity.
