Great Britain 1841 1d Red-Brown Plate 51, SG8var – Corner Marginal Imprimatur with Inscription
A superb unused imperforate imprimatur from the top left corner of the sheet, lettered 'AA', showing part of the original sheet inscription “PRICE 1d Per Lab...” along with the clearly printed plate number “51”.
Issued as part of the 1841 1d red-brown series, this imprimatur originates from the printer’s reference sheet, retained before official perforation and release. The presence of both the inscription and plate number makes this an especially distinctive example.
Immaculately preserved with full original gum and wide margins, it is an important example of early Victorian production practice. This stamp comes from the renowned Clark Collection (1946)—a significant provenance.
