Great Britain 1841 1d Pink envelope.
A very fine example sent from Godalming to Mooltan via Kurachee, neatly cancelled by a blue Godalming circular date stamp for 'OC.17.1849' and a London transit circular date stamp with Bombay and Kurachee receivers on reverse for November 1849. Sent via Southampton and endorsed "1/-" in manuscript.
The addressee, Robert Haines was probably working in some official capacity as the Punjab had only recently been annexed to the British following the 2nd Sikh war, the army of Mulraj Singh having besieged Mooltan earlier in the year.
Super quality piece of postal history and a very rare destination item.
