Very fine wrapper sent from Grantham to Bakewell bearing a good to large four margin 1d grey black lettered PD showing moderate plate wear, neatly tied by a superb strike of a red MC leaving a clear profile. Backstamped by a Grantham dispatch cds for MY.20.1840. A couple light archive folds well clear of adhesive and not detracting from this very scarce and attractive “May Date" cover. Spec. AS2th.
