An exceptionally fine and fresh example sent from Croydon to Cardonaugh, Co. Donegal on the second day of issue. Neatly cancelled by a crisp red Maltese Cross with a blue TP/Croydon H St. handstamp at right.
Reverse shows a crisp London circular date stamp for 'MY.7.1840' and a Dublin diamond datestamp for 'MY.8.1840'.
A superb early usage of the Mulready, in outstanding quality and opening up well for display.
