GREAT BRITAIN 1839 Maritime mail, SG
Very fine entire from Funchal to London, endorsed "Per Vernon" and charged 1/4 in manuscipt. Reverse shows in red the only known example of the stepped box "Ship Letter/Romney" handstamp (Unlisted by Robertson, but designated type S6 by Taebert), also shows a London receiver for FE.16.1839. A unique maritime item.
