CHINA 1949 Sun Yat-sen Silver Yuan Set of 9 to 500c Scarlet, SG1348/56
An attractive and fresh unused complete set of nine stamps issued during the transitional silver yuan currency period in 1949, featuring the iconic portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, founding father of the Republic of China.
This vivid and colourful set ranges from 1c green to 500c scarlet, showcasing a variety of hues and values. Notably, the two higher denominations – the 100c deep blue and 500c scarlet – are particularly scarce and seldom seen in such well-preserved condition.
A classic representation of the final phase of Nationalist Chinese issues before currency revaluation and one of the key Sun Yat-sen commemorative designs for collectors of Chinese Republican philately.
Sun Yat-sen (12 November 1866 - 12 March 1925) was a Chinese politician, physician and philosopher who provisionally served as the first president of the Republic of China. He’s called the "Father of the Nation".
