Canada 1937-38 King George VI short set of six to 8c orange in marginal IMPERFORATE BLOCKS OF FOUR, SG357/62.
Brilliant quality, unmounted mint with full original gum. The 8c is exceptionally from lower left corner.
Only 100 pairs of each value existed (except 150 of 3c) and now rarely seen in unmounted mint blocks. A wonderful exhibition showpiece.
The accession of King George VI to the throne resulted in a need to issue a new series of stamps bearing his portrait. The portrait used shows the King in ordinary attire based on a photograph by Bertram Park and engraved by William F. Ford.
The new issue of the 1c, 2c, and 3c stamps released on April 1, 1937, was the 1st series with the sovereign's portrait.
