An exceptional upper right corner block of four with the Type 69 surcharge and printed sheet number ‘58’. This outstanding multiple features two horizontal pairs with the striking error IMPERFORATE BETWEEN.
A very fine positional multiple with original gum and with the lower pair remaining unmounted mint, in overall pristine condition.
This is the only known positional multiple of this error in such a well-preserved state, making it a unique exhibition quality showpiece for the discerning philatelist.
A rare and important survivor from a fascinating wartime Red Cross issue. The British North Borneo Company donated a proportion of these issues to be sold by the National Philatelic War Fund for the benefit of the Red Cross and St. John Ambulance Brigade.
