A superb used very large four margin example lettered "CE", beautifully tied to a large piece by a perfectly struck black Maltese Cross with a crisp Wimborne circular date stamp below for "AP.16.1841". An extremely attractive used example of the elusive Plate 11 penny black and very rarely seen in this quality. A top condition grade used example of the holy grail of penny black collecting, the elusive last printing plate. Only 168,000 were printed from this plate, representing a mere fraction of the total number of penny blacks printed of 68 million. Very few have survived from this plate number, particularly in fine condition. The penny black represents a real landmark in British and worldwide history and this example is from the most sought after printing plate of them all. SG Catalogue Value: £4,500.
