I.F.S. Jasdan 1943 (SEP 8) native cover, SG3.
Native cover (re-used with economy label) franked on reverse by 1942-47 1a light green, perforations 10½, position 2 of a pane with imperforate margins at top and right, tied by large Gujrati double circle office stamp and (separately applied) straight line datestamp, both in purple.
Typical small cover faults, but the stamp and postmarks superb. Certainly one of the finest covers we have seen with this stamp, and an extreme rarity in this quality.
Jasdan was merged with the United State of Kathiawar (later Saurashtra) by 15 April 1948.
Last sold by Stanley Gibbons in 2017 for £1,250.
