Great Britain 1840 1d Intense black & 1d Grey black (worn plate) Plate 2, SG1,3. A very fine four margin matched pair both lettered BJ and tied to clean entires by red and black Maltese Crosses respectively.
The first sent from London to Bath and back stamped with a Charing Cross date stamp for OC.8.1840, the latter sent from Otley to Skipton and back stamped with crisp blue Otley circular date stamp for MR.31.1841.
A lovely quality pair of matched covers in very contrasting shades.
