Great Britain 1840 1d black Plate 5, (First & Second registration sheet) imprimaturs, SG2.
A superb unused matched pair of imperforate imprimaturs lettered 'TD' taken from the first registration sheet "Before hardening" & second registration sheet "After hardening".
The examples from the second registration sheet with close margin, but still clear at top left.
Very rare, one of only 23 possible examples removed from either sheet many of which are in institutional collections.
Both accompanied by 2012 British Philatelic Association (BPA) Certificates of Authenticity.
