Great Britain 1861 1d rose-red Plate 51 unused marginal block of eight, SG42
A very fine unused with original gum bottom left hand corner marginal block of eight lettered ""SA-TD"", showing sheet inscription and plate number ""51"". Slight discoloration on upper right corner of ""SD"", which barely detracts as a very scarce and attractive plate block. GB Specialised Catalogue No: C12(3). Plates 50 and 51 were completed in mid-1856. They are most notable for being unusual in that all the corner letters were engraved by hand. From Plate 52 onwards the method of entering by punching was resumed.
