  • Sex Pistols signed Pretty Vacant single advert

Sex Pistols signed Pretty Vacant single advert

    £8,500.00

    • A Pretty Vacant single advert from a 1977 edition of the New Musical Express (NME) signed by the Sex Pistols

The Sex Pistols formed in London in 1975 and originally featured Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock. Sid Vicious replaced Matlock in 1977. Their hugely influential debut album (Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols) set the tone for the punk explosion.

In spite of their success, the Sex Pistols broke up less than a year later, following a disastrous US tour. Later that year, bassist Sid Vicious was arrested in New York for the murder of his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. He died of a heroin overdose in 1979.

This 10 x 6 inch full page advert for the Sex Pistols’ single Pretty Vacant is from a July 9, 1977 edition of the New Musical Express (NME). The full band has signed (Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Sid Vicious).

The Sex Pistols only existed in their classic line-up for less than a year, making complete sets of signatures profoundly rare. This example could only have been signed in a seven month window between July 1977 and January 1978, when the band broke up. Cook has inscribed the page “At Virgin”, suggesting it may have been signed at the record label’s offices.

The Beatles 1963 signatures in autograph album

    £9,950.00

    • Set of gorgeous Beatles autographs: John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison.
    • Accompanied by another page from an autograph book, where Lennon has also signed "Benny Higgins (Juggler)".
    • Also accompanied by a ticket stub for Princess Theatre, Torquay, Sunday 18th August 1963.

The Beatles and their music need no introduction. As a result of their all-encompassing impact on popular music and culture, memorabilia from the band remains some of the most collectible and valuable on the market.

These two pages from an autograph album feature the signatures of three of the Beatles in black fountain pen ink.

The first page, dedicated to "Helen", is signed by three of the group: "love from The Beatles, Paul McCartney xxx"; "love from George Harrison xxxx"; "John Lennon xxx". Ringo Starr's name is handwritten at the bottom of the page, though not by his hand (possibly written by Paul McCartney).

The second page, from the same album, is signed by John Lennon as "Benny Higgins (juggler)". The collector has neatly annotated the page with "John Lennon's joke".

This unusual page is accompanied by a ticket stub for the Beatles' concert at the Princess Theatre, Torquay on Sunday August 18, 1963. The signatures were obtained on this date.

The Torquay concert followed the group's release of their debut album, Please Please Me, in March 1963.

The pages are in excellent condition, with only minor tears where they were removed from the autograph album. Sticky tape marks are present at the top and bottom of the ticket stub.

The Beatles signed A Hard Day's Night album cover

    £35,000.00

    • Signed clearly by all four members of the Beatles beneath their portraits.
    • One of only 8-10 known to exist, according to Autograph Magazine's census.
    • Superb condition, with only light wear to the edges and some toning.

The Beatles and their music need no introduction. As a result of their all-encompassing impact on popular music and culture, memorabilia from the band is some of the most valuable on the market.

A Hard Day's Night, released on July 10, 1964, was the Beatles' third studio album. Accompanying the band's film of the same name, it went straight to Number One in the UK charts and stayed there for 21 weeks, spending a total of 38 weeks in the Top 20.

A Hard Day's Night saw the Beatles move away from rock n roll covers and towards their classic sound. It holds a special place with fans, as it is the only Beatles album where all the songs were written by both John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

According to Autograph Magazine's census, there are just 125 known UK-release album covers signed by all four members of the Beatles.

Signed copies of Please Please Me and With The Beatles account for approximately 95 of the 125 known examples.

That takes the total down to just 30.

There are only 5 known examples of Meet the Beatles, with one example selling for $115,000 in 2006.

As for signed copies of A Hard Day's Night, only 8-10 are known to exist.

    This is one of them...

The signatures are in blue pen, each inscribed below the corresponding band member's photograph.

The item is in fine condition, with some light wear to the edges.

The album cover is to be sold framed alongside a black and white photo of the group, with a certificate of authenticity and lifetime moneyback guarantee of authenticity.

This is a very rare opportunity to acquire one of the rarest pieces of Beatles memorabilia.
