Description

  • Marilyn Monroe autograph on newspaper clipping
  • Signed on June 19, 1951 for a US Navy serviceman - superb provenance
  • Attractively framed using UV-filtering conservation-grade glass

Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) needs little introduction. An actress, model and entertainer, she is perhaps the most recognisable of all screen icons.

As such, her memorabilia is highly sought after, and continues to be widely collected across the world.

This autographed newspaper clipping, measuring 15.5 x 10cm, has been signed across the top in black ink by Marilyn Monroe. It shows a beautiful photograph of Monroe in a black dress and white fur stole above a brief article about her appearance on the U.S.S. Benham.

A young member of the United States Navy acquired the signature on June 19, 1951. He met Monroe, who autographed the clipping for him personally, aboard the U.S.S. Benham at a public showing of The Frogmen.

At this time, Monroe is likely to have been in production of The Love Nest which began filming on April 18, 1951.

That means this autograph originates right from the beginning of Marilyn's career.

Attractively framed with a photograph of Marilyn to an overall 50.5 x 37.5cm, using UV-filtering conservation-grade glass.

Several factors, including Marilyn's talent, good looks, relationships and her tragic death at a young age, have ensured that she remains a globally iconic figure to this day.

This is a fantastic chance to own a sought after signature with impeccable provenance.
