An original piece of U.S history from the inauguration of John F. Kennedy
An original 'No Parking' street sign from the Presidential inauguration of John F. Kennedy on January 20, 1961.
The vintage sign reads "Presidential Inauguration, No Parking, Midnight January 19 to Midnight January 20, 1961."
The metal sign measures 12” x 18” and is in very good to fine condition, with minor scratches, paint loss and expected wear.
These signs were put up in the street surrounding the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Following Kennedy's famous inaugural address, a three-hour-long parade took place along Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House watched by tens of thousands of spectators.
Many of the signs were later removed by those attending the parade and taken as souvenirs of the historic day.
