Great Britain 1840 1d Mulready lettersheet Forme 2 Stereo A17, SGME1.
A fine used example sent from Jersey to Chesterfield, neatly cancelled by a Maltese Cross. Backstamped with a clear MY.18.1840 Jersey datestamp and arrival datestamp MY.21.1840.
A few minor imperfections but extremely important as the earliest known Mulready sent from Jersey. There are only two known May date examples from Jersey with the other dated late November 1840 from Jersey to Ilchester, which was offered for sale by Stanley Gibbons at a price of £10,000 in 2013.
A key piece of Channel Islands postal history.
