China 1897, 60th Birthday of Dowager Empress (Second Printing), SG31
A very fine mint, with original gum, example of the 9 candarins yellow-green, issued as part of the highly sought-after commemorative set marking the 60th birthday of the Dowager Empress, Cixi.
From the second printing, and features intricate twin dragon motifs with the imperial longevity symbol at centre.
A sought after Chinese Empire stamp, very rarely seen. This printing was made for surcharging in the new currency, and genuinely used examples are unknown.
