Canada 1928–29 King George V Scroll Issue – Complete Set of 11 Imperforate Horizontal Pairs (SG275/285)
Exceptionally Rare Mint Set – One of Only 250 Produced
The complete 1928–29 King George V Scroll Issue in imperforate horizontal pairs, comprising all 11 denominations from 1 cent to 1 dollar (SG275–285).
Each pair is in brilliant unmounted mint condition with full original gum—an exceptional state of preservation for such an elusive set. These imperforate pairs were never released for postal use. Only 250 imperforate sets were ever produced, and fewer remain intact today. Many have been split or used for display, making a complete, pristine set such as this exceptionally scarce.
Historical Context
The 1928–29 Scroll Issue was a landmark series in Canadian stamp design, notable for introducing bilingual inscriptions and incorporating both portraiture and scenic pictorial elements.
Among the set is the famous 50c “Bluenose”, often described as Canada’s most beautiful stamp, celebrating the iconic Nova Scotian schooner.
