The poem features in an attractively bound hardback scrapbook compiled in the 1840s, relating to the people of Ambleside in the Lake District, UK.

The scrapbook also contains an April 11, 1846-dated signature from social theorist Harriet Martineau and a poem by William Wordsworth’s son-in-law Edward Quillinan, transcribed by Jemima Quillinan on April 5, 1846.

The scrapbook was gifted to Letitia Matilda Rudyerd, (nee Burroughs) by her mother in 1847. Letitia (circa.1828-1908), was the daughter of Colonel William Burroughs (circa. 1789-1853). Born in Allahabad in the East Indies, Letitia married Henry Edward Samuel Rudyerd on 29 October 1846.
