King Charles III typed, signed 1999 letter as Prince of Wales regarding complementary medicine
An important letter from Prince Charles regarding his Foundation for Integrated Health, dated March 24, 1999 with salutation, valediction and signature by hand.
A typed letter on Highgrove House-headed letter paper concerns the appointment of Michael Fox as Chief Executive of the Foundation for Integrated Medicine (FIM) and Charles’s hopes for the organization.
The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health was founded by Prince Charles in 1993.
Charles has a long-standing interest in complementary and alternative medicine and has campaigned for their acceptance.
In the letter, to a Professor Challis, he writes: “I regard the work of this organisation as critical to the ongoing success of the initiative and I hope you will continue to give your help during the next stages of progress. I think there is now a very real window of opportunity to make a substantial difference in this complex field and I hope we can all find the best possible way of taking this initiative forward.”
The Foundation was closed in 2012 after a fraud investigation.
Charles’s personal interests and his willingness to campaign for them have often been controversial. This letter lifts the lid on his involvement.
It is also an attractive autographed document from the current monarch.
Single-page letter 8 by 13” (32.5 by 20cm) in good condition with light marks from folding. Clear, well-preserved typescript and bold, black ink additions with large, clear, bold signature.
