South West Africa 1939 Huguenot set of 3 (½d + ½d brown and green, 1d + 1d green and carmine and 1½d + 1½d blue-green and purple), SG111/13.

Very fine quality blocks of 4, unmounted mint with full original gum.

A splendid King George VI stamp issue commemorating the 250th Anniversary of Landing of Huguenots in South Africa and Huguenot Commemoration Fund.

Huguenots were French Protestants in the 16th and 17th centuries who followed the teachings of theologian John Calvin and were persecuted by the French Catholic government. They fled France in the 17th century and 180 Huguenots landed and settled in the Cape of Good Hope in December 1689.
