A slice of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips' original wedding cake
The cake is sealed in an original presentation box inscribed with the date of the ceremony, “Buckingham Palace, 14th November 1973” and Anne and Mark’s initials.
With it are matching boxes (without cake) from the weddings of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer on 29 July, 1981 and Prince Andrew and Sarah Fergusson on 23 July, 1986. Internal cards for both boxes are also included.
Princess Anne (now Anne, Princess Royal) is the younger sister of King Charles III, the second child, and eldest daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh.
She married Captain Mark Phillips in 1973 at Westminster Abbey in a televised ceremony that was watched by as many as 500 million people.
Anne met Mark through their shared interest in equestrian sports. Both are Olympians.
These mementos are a deep, personal link to Queen Elizabeth II’s children and a generation of public Royal ceremonials.
