Your chance to bid online for 'one of the world's most famous wines'

Collectors on the lookout for a fine additions to their wine cellar have two days left to take part in Acker Auctions' online sale, over in Hong Kong. The auction closes on Sunday, 8pm (Eastern Daylight Time).

Acker is just one of many auctioneers that are increasingly using the internet, as geography becomes less-and-less of an issue for collectors wanting to join the global wine markets.

Among the auction's unmissable highlights is a lot of 12 bottles of the Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2005, described as 'one of the most famous wine names on the planet,' estimated at $10,000-14,000.

Given 96 points by the eminent wine critic Robert Parker on his definitive '100/100' score sheet, the dozen bottles had attracted total bids of $11,000 at the time of writing.

This 2005 is definitely one to watch. In fact, many critics still maintain that 2005 Bordeaux wines are superior to this year's praise-laden 2009 (aka 'the best vintage in 60 years').

The Lafite Rothschild is just one of 1,200 new lots being offered to collectors at the click of a mouse.

According to Acker, the lots are available for immediate pickup directly from Crown Wine Cellars in Hong Kong, but can also be shipped internationally.
