According to the statement, issued on Wednesday, Jay will be joining co-founders Sam Bronfman and Peter Kaufman.
He will be responsible for identifying and evaluating potential transactions, overseeing the performance of the Bacchus portfolio for wineries and managing its research, investment and marketing teams.
Jay has 15 years experience in boutique and established wineries, the company said.
"Quinton adds the right mix of industry experience and ability in new business development and brand portfolio strategy to help us continue our momentum in growing the business," Sam Bronfman, also a managing partner, said in the statement.
He was most recently vice president and general manager at Napa's Artesa Winery and Vineyards. Previously, Jay was managing director of Bacchus Consulting Group, an independent winery consulting firm he founded in 2001, and general manager of Bonny Doon Vineyard.
Bacchus Capital Management was established in 2007. The investment firm's web site says it specialises in second-lien loans of between $3-$15m.
The firm is located in Pleasanton, California, located 34 miles east of San Francisco in the region's outer East Bay.
