Sotheby's will offer two incredible American single-owner wine collections for sale in Hong Kong on October 3 and 4.

The auction house hopes to build upon the success of its spring, 2009 two-part single-owner sale for The Classic Cellar from a Great American Collector which took place in New York and Hong Kong.

Sotheby's will offer a third selection from The Classic Cellar from a Great American Collector on October 3 as well as An Exceptional Cellar from a Private American Collector on October 4.

"The charge is led by a phenomenal array of First Growths and their Right Bank siblings, Pétrus and Cheval Blanc, followed by those great Châteaux that are snapping at their heels, wines such as La Mission Haut Brion and Léoville Lascases," said Serena Sutcliffe, International Head of Wine at Sotheby's, in a statement.

"It is a privilege to offer this diversity of vintages, some ready to drink and others more suitable for laying down, as well as such a range of bottle sizes, giving everyone wines for every kind of event."

The sale will introduce a combination of online bidding with live video and audio for its Hong Kong wine sales, after the service was met with great enthusiasm from global bidders in July.

The sales are estimated to bring $2.5-3.5m and $1.5-2.5m, respectively - with the two sales combined estimated to bring a total of $4-6m.

"There are real jewels in the crown here, such as 1928, 1959, 1961 and large format 1982s, where all our usual criteria to ensure condition and authenticity come into play," said Ms Sutcliffe.

"At the other end of the time spectrum, there are stunning 2000s and 2005s whose progress can be 'followed' throughout their adult life, which is wine-speak for constant sampling to see how they develop."
