Online auctioneer WhiskyAuction is holding another of its sales of fine and rare Scotch single malts with a treat from one of the last remaining producers of Campbeltown whiskies.
Of course there are many covetable lots from Highland, Lowland and Islay, but the stand-out lot is likely to be an 18 year-old Springbank which entered a rum cask back in 1973 to emerge a refined adult in 1991. (Springbank usually use sherry or bourbon casks, but not in this case.)

Springbank is one of only two distilleries in Scotland to perform every step in the whisky making process, from malting the barley to bottling the spirit all in the same place, and the watchful approach has certainly won it fans over the years, making it an excellent investment.
It is, as we've noted before, one of the whisky industry's great survivors, as the reputation of Campbeltown whiskies went down the drain at one point, and nearly dragged the uncompromising Springbank with it. Fortunately for all lovers of a good dram it did not.
WhiskyAuction's sale closes on March 26th.
