A New York wine auction held on January 25 has been highlighted by the sale of a spectacular vertical selection from Chateau Mouton Rothschild.
![]() The very first art label seen at Mouton Rothschild was the 1945 edition from Philippe Jullian |
The lot, which spanned every year since 1945 - the celebrated victory vintage - until 2008, sold for an impressive $73,800. It contained 66 bottles in all, with duplicates of the 1993 and 1964 vintages.
In buying the lot, the collector has also created a spectacular art collection, with Mouton Rothschild's labels being designed by a different artist every year since 1945. Included are works from Dali, Picasso and Warhol.
