An empty whisky bottle made $25,200 at American Bottle Auctions' recent sale.
The circa 1900 near-mint condition Jule's Bourbon exceeded its $20,000 estimate at the California auction.
The "spin mould fifth bottle", which has gold decoration, is said by the auctioneers to be possibly the best known example of a "back bar bottle".

It was discovered during the 1940s in a Tucson, Arizona basement, among artefacts that had once belonged to the bottle's manufacturer, Julius Goldman, a frontier saloon keeper and local liquor distributor.
Investors had plenty of other bottles to keep them interested at the auction, which amassed $239,429.
A triangular-shaped 1865 National Bitters bottle made in Detroit went for $12,880, while a rarely-seen Keach Torpedo Soda specimen, produced in Baltimore, achieved $8,960.
