Edward Roberts International had an excellent 2009, being the best performing wine auction house in the US. This is particularly impressive in a decade where fine wines proved to be the best investment of all.
Naturally, therefore, they are looking forward to their first auction of the year, which will take place this February in Chicago.
One of the lots currently headlining is some exquisite 1961 Château La Mission Haut-Brion which was part of the well-known Albert D. Williams, Jr. collection.

La Mission has been described as "the quintessential insider's wine" by Master of Wine Jancis Robinson, and wine critic Robert Parker awarded vintages of La Mission the maximum 100 points six times in total.
The auction will be preceded by a tasting session which will include samples of 1961 La Mission, alongside 1976 Andre Vannier Chablis Mont de Milieu, 1962 Cruse Pommard, 1955 Château Cos D'Estournel, 1959 Château Mouton-Rothschild, 1962 Château Haut-Brion, 1976 Château Mouton-Rothschild and 1970 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Unfiltered.
The auction will take place on February 7 2010 in Chicago, with internet bidding possible from the end of next week. We'll bring you more details of the lots closer to the time.
Wine collectors will also be looking forward to Sotheby's wine auction in Hong Kong.
