Hart Davis Hart's wine auction this weekend in Chicago realised $6.3m in total sales against a pre-auction estimate of $4.4m - $6.5m.
Wines from Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Mouton Rothschild, and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti generated spirited activity from potential investors.
"The global market was decidedly upbeat with active participation from Asia, North & South America, and Europe," said CEO Paul Hart.
Bordeaux, from the heralded 2000 vintage, commanded robust prices throughout the day. Château Pétrus was in the spotlight as well, with a case of the 1983 vintage selling for $16,730, and a case of the 2002 commanding $19,120.
