Wallis Simpson's Cartier tigers valued at $2.5m ahead of November sale

A pair of Cartier tiger brooches that once belonged to Wallis Simpson are among the highlights of Christie's Magnificent Jewels auction in Geneva on November 11.

The tigers are made from diamond, onyx and emerald

The pieces were produced in the 1950s and are offered as a single lot with a valuation of $1.8m-2.5m.

In 1987 they were bought by theatre impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber and gifted them to his then wife Sarah Brightman, who is consigning them to the sale.

Another collection of jewellery belonging to Simpson will auction at Bonhams London on September 17.

We have a handwritten, signed letter from the Duchess of Windsor sent from her honeymoon in Austria.
