Antique clocks, Asian objects, fine art, porcelain and antiques will be among the 400 lots sold at Gordon S. Converse & Company's upcoming Wednesday, December 28 auction.
Online and telephone bids will also be accepted.
"We're billing this as a holiday auction, as it's coming close on the heels of Christmas," said Gordon Converse.
"The week between Christmas and New Year's is typically kind of quiet - a good time to buy."
The Waltham clock: estimated |
Among the auction's many highlights is a major collection of 19th century American clocks. They will sell alongside a number of other antique fine timepieces, including wall rare clocks.
Gordon S. Converse & Co's auction will present about 100 clocks for sale overall. Most of them are late 19th century wall clocks.
Big highlights include this very rare Waltham girandole clock (pictured).
The antique timepiece is serial numbered one of fewer-than 50. According to the auctioneer, the Waltham clock is in excellent condition. Its unique features include an unusual thermometer.
The Waltham clock will appear in Gordon S. Converse & Co's sale with a $20,000-$40,000 estimate.
Two "wagon spring" clocks, miniature shelf clocks dating prior to the 1840s, and a musical Austrian mantel clock will be among the auction's other many star draws.
Gordon S. Converse & Company's sale will take place at the Peoples Light & Theater Company in Malvern, a city situated in eastern Pennsylvania, Pasadena, US.
Previews will be held for Boxing Day shoppers on Monday and Tuesday, December 26-27.
