The overall total for Jewels: The New York Sale featuring the Catherine the Great Emerald Brooch and the Emperor Maximilian Diamond was $41,246,325 with 85% sold by lot, and 92% sold by value.
Top lot in the auction was a perfect heart-shaped (D Flawless) diamond of 28.28 cts. It brought $3,778,500, or $133,000 per carat.

Meanwhile, the Emperor Maximilian Diamond achieved $1.76m - more than twice its original auction price since its first appearance at Christie's in 1982.
Twelve other jewels in the sale also sold for more than $1m each.
"In all, the sale demonstrated once again the great health of the global market for top-quality jewelry and precious stones," said Rahul Kadakia, Head of Jewelry at Christie's New York.
