The sale has been dubbed The Essential Watch Collection, offering a range of collectors favourites.

The Patek Phillipe, a stainless steel Nautilus from the 1970s, will lead bids with a $25,000-30,000 estimate.

Also selling is a Rolex Daytona, Reference 6262, in stainless steel with a black matte dial, which is valued at $25,000-28,000. It will sell alongside a pink-gold Jaeger LeCoultre Reference 2721 at $6,000-8,000.

The sale closes for bids on October 8.

Christie's online sales have seen tremendous success, offering bidders a quick and easy way to secure a mid-level item online.

Paul Fraser Collectibles' online store offers the same advantage, but with a highly personalised service - see this Longines Olympic Series watch for your next purchase.
