Patek Philippe 2499 could bring $500,000 in Antiquorum's exciting watch auction

Antiquorum Auctioneers, the world's premier watch auctioneer, is preparing for its September 14th auction of "Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces" at their US headquarters in New York City.

That's just a week ahead of the Only Watch charity auction in Monaco, which the company is facilitating.

Among the extraordinary timepieces being offered is a Patek Philippe ref. 2499 (estimated at $300,000- 500,000) and an extremely rare and probably unique Patek Philippe Split-Second Chronograph ref. 1436 (listed at ($200,000-300,000).

In addition to these highly collectible watches, collectors can look forward to a very diverse collection of modern and vintage timepieces. Previews will be held in cities across the globe, including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and New York.

A timeless timepiece: The Patek Philippe 2499 gold watch

The highlight of the sale is the Patek Philippe Ref. 2499, third series, originally from the collection of Professor Thomas Engel. Made in 1976, this is an exceptional and extremely rare, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with round button chronograph, perpetual calendar, and moon phases.

Collectors will also be competing for the fresh to the market Patek Philippe ref. 1436 retailed by Tiffany & Co. Made in 1960 and sold by Tiffany & Co. the following year, the watch has remained in pristine, virtually new condition.

The model, probably unique, is an 18K yellow gold wristwatch with transitional dial, square button co-axial split-seconds chronograph and tachometer.

It is accompanied by a Rolex service invoice and guarantee dated June 21, 2011.

The auction takes place in New York on September 14, 2011.
