Many believe that On The Waterfront, with its renowned 'I coulda been a contender...' speech, was Marlon Brando's best acting performance. And it won him his first Oscar.
To celebrate its 1954 release, Brando was given a gold Vacheron Constantin watch by girlfriend Zsa Zsa Gabor.
The 18 karat gold watch is engraved on the back with "To Marlon - Love - Zsa Zsa - June 24, 1954."
The guilloché dial of the watch is textured silver, with gold hands and an inset dial for seconds. Naturally it has 'Vacheron & Constantin - Genève' printed on it.
The watch as a whole is 32mm across and 7mm thick. It is somewhat worn, but still a beautiful piece and a fantastic piece of memorabilia.
It will be sold on September 17 in New York with an estimated price of $3,000-5,000.
The piece is of course doubly valuable as both a vintage watch and a piece of Hollywood memorabilia.
Watch collecting is a growing interest, whilst Hollywood memorabilia is in increasing demand from collectors in countries such as China and Russia in particular, so it can be expected to be a safe investment.
