Montblanc Charlie Chaplin fountain pen makes $25,000

A Montblanc Skeleton Charlie Chaplin fountain pen made £15,000 ($25,065) at Dreweatts and Bloomsbury in Newbury, UK on March 26.

The lot headlined the Fine Watches, Pens and Luxury Accessories auction.

Chaplin Montblac Modern Times
Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times (1936) inspired the pen's design

It was produced to celebrate Chaplin's seminal Modern Times (1936) and features gold coloured overlay cog wheels that echo the film's dystopian factory setting, while the cap end and clip are in the shape of a bowler hat and a cane.

Only 88 of the pens were ever produced.

We have this exceptional signed photograph of Laurel and Hardy for sale.
