A Breguet pocket watch made for French designer and Coco Chanel's one-time lover, Paul Iribe (1883-1935), has beaten its estimate in London.
The eight-carat gold open face automatic timepiece, which Iribe bought in 1933, sold for £26,250 ($41,151), 31.3% above its £20,000 ($30,000) estimate at Bonhams' Fine Watches and Wristwatches auction.

A Rolex Ref 6263/6239 led the sale. The 17-jewel beauty, which had first sold in August 1973, auctioned for £97,250 ($152,446).
It has been an exciting week for watch collectors in the British capital. Yesterday also saw a new record set for a Patek Philippe grand complication, at Christie's.
