Sotheby's sold a fancy intense pink diamond for $20.7m in a jewellery auction in Geneva on November 16.

The diamond is mounted on a ring

That's an increase of 41.3% on its $14.7m estimate.

The stone weighs 17 carats and has the potential to be internally flawless once it has been repolished.  

Pink diamonds are among the most sought after stones of the moment, although blue diamonds have the edge.

The diamond record is $57.5m, set for the Oppenheimer Blue at Christie's in May this year.
