The British auctioneer will be conducting a jewellery auction on February 9 which will feature a large number of delightful pieces - from the very affordable, for the new-comer to jewellery collecting, to the rather extravagant, for the serious investor. There are many pieces one could discuss, but this article will consider a few of the highlights.
The undoubted star of the show is Lot 373 - a diamond, single-stone ring. The ring, size K, holds a 5.11 carat marquise-cut diamond, set between brilliant-cut diamond shoulders. With an estimate of £15,000-25,000, this important piece is likely to be the subject of heated competition next week.
Another item that would make a great asset for collectors or investors is a delicate and lustrous diamond bracelet. The beautiful stones, a mixture of marquise and brilliant-cut, weigh 21.00 carats in total. The bracelet is designed as a continuous row of diamond clusters, measuring 18.8cm. This lovely piece is expected to realise between £10,000-15,000.

Another fine ring included in the auction is Lot 94 - a size J ½ gold hoop, with a single 3.65 carat diamond sat atop an eight-claw setting. The round stone is brilliant-cut. This fantastic item is more affordable, and would make an ambitious investment for someone looking to start or expand their jewellery collection. It is estimated to realise in the region of £9,000-11,000.
Finally, Lot 388 is a unique and striking Art Deco bracelet. It has a wide openwork strap composed of a series of geometric links, 19cm in length. These are set with single, baguette and old brilliant-cut diamonds, with a total weight of 14.00 carats. This visually stunning piece could be the bargain of the day, with an estimate of £7,000-9,000.
The Bonhams auction has many more pieces of jewellery on offer, ranging from three figures to several thousand, including diamonds, rubies, sapphires and pearls, by a variety of renowned jewellers.
As we reported late last year, diamonds have been incredibly popular over the last 12 months but are getting rarer - their investment potential is not to be sniffed at. This auction is a perfect opportunity to start/add to your collection with some great prices on show. Alternatively, you may find a special present in time for Valentine's Day . . .
