Diamond encrusted Piaget Traditon to lead Heritage watch auction at $90,000
An elaborate diamond encrusted Piaget Tradition watch will auction on November 18
A lavish diamond encrusted Piaget Tradition wristwatch is to provide the highlight of Heritage Auctions' November 18 Timepieces Signature Auction.
The watch features 2,000 diamonds with eight sapphires
Crafted from 18k white gold, the watch is almost entirely covered with a dazzling array of 2,000 diamonds. The dial is set with eight sapphires to mark the numbers, and the watchremains invery good condition overall. A rare and extremely fine piece from 1972, it will sell with a $70,000-90,000 estimate.
Franck Muller personally created this watch for the Vicenza Watch Fair
Sharing this estimate is an extremelyrare and importantFranck Muller prototype of the minute repeating wristwatch with perpetual calendar and Moon phases. The 18k rose gold watch was personally crafted by Muller in 1986 for the Vicenza Jewellery and Watch Fair, and will be accompanied by a handwritten, signed letter from Muller himself that attests to this.
The watch is considered to be "the cornerstone of Franck Muller's complicated watches" and is based on a LeCoultre ebauche made for Tiffany. Comparable to Patek Philippe's high grade movements with the addition of a perpetual calendar mechanism, the watch will be soldwith a signed certificate and a fine wood presentation box.
Ahead of the upcoming release of Skyfall, the auction will also see the Rolex "James Bond" Submariner, reference 6538. Created in 1957, the watch is identical to the one worn by Sean Connery in Dr No and is expected to sell for $40,000-50,000.
