A 22 karat gold egg produced by British confectionery company Cadbury’s in the 1980s made £20,640 ($27,340) earlier this week.
The egg was one of 12 commissioned from top London jeweller Garrard & Co for a 1983 competition.
The Conundrum egg is decorated with scenes from British mythology
They were buried in locations around the UK, with cryptic clues indicating where they were hidden.
However, Cadbury's was forced to pull the plug early as frenzied prospectors caused chaos across the country with spades and shovels.
The present lot was actually kept aside for promotional purposes.
Clearly time has not diminished its appeal.
