18 Carat jewellery and timepieces from Rolex & LeCoultre to feature at Canadian auction

Toronto based Canadian auctioneers, Waddington's, are set for quite a sale of fine jewellery and timepieces.

The auction, which takes place on Wednesday, September 22, is set to feature 380 lots which offer collectors an impressive variety of investment pieces.

The sale is set to include diamond solitaire rings, Victorian jewellery, pearl necklaces, gold diamond rings  and various pieces featuring rubies and emeralds to name but a few.

For watch collectors, the event also boasts a selection of rare pocket watches and other more modern pieces from the likes of Omega, Tag Heuer, Rolex and LeCoultre to name but a few.

The Secrett's Double strand rock crystal bead necklace

Our pick of the jewellery highlights includes an 18k white Gold Cross-over ring. Carrying an estimated price of £895 - 1,150 ($1,400 - 1,800), this piece features 32 square cut emeralds alongside 68 small brilliant cut diamonds.

Its relatively low investment price can be attributed to the note of "one diamond missing" which is attached to the lot.

However, this should not put off collectors with the piece offered at an excellent entry level price.

Elsewhere, an 18k yellow gold brooch could go one better.

The piece is formed into the shape of an eagle and come set with 204 small brilliant cut diamonds and 52 small baguette cut rubies along with 3 ruby cabochon eyes.

With one wing mounted "en tremblant", this imaginative piece carries a target price of £960 - 1,280 ($1,500 - 2,000).

The prized lot amongst the jewellery on sale is undoubtedly the Secrett's Double strand rock crystal bead necklace.

The 1949 LeCoultre wristwatch

Featuring an 18k white gold clasp and spacers set with a pear cut, the piece includes 2 oval cut blue topaz stones along with 36 brilliant cut diamonds and carries an estimated price of £1,025 - 1,400 ($1,600 - 2,200).

The sale also contains some vintage watches which could also offer a relatively low investment.

The first is a 1951 Rolex Oyster Perpetual wristwatch.

This classic timepiece is over fifty years old and has 18 jewel calibration movements in a stainless steel case with a pre-auction estimate of £575 - 770 ($900 - 1,200) attached.

Similarly impressive, is a classic Swiss LeCoultre wristwatch.

The time piece was produced in 1943 and features an 18k rose gold case along with an 18k rose gold strap.

With the watch currently carrying an estimated price of £575 - 770 ($900 - 1,200) it could good day for collectors on the hunt for an investment.

The auction commences at 7pm, Eastern Standard Time, on Wednesday September 22, 2010 with bids accepted in person or over the phone.
