A sale of teddy bears for charity sounds like something that could happen in your local town hall.
|
But that certainly can't be said of Living Paintings' forthcoming auction.
The sale will feature bears dressed by a number of leading fashion icons, including Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney and Marchesa.
Each designer has worked on a collectible Steiff bear for the charity sale, the proceeds of which will help blind children and adults.
Lulu Guinness, Betty Jackson, actress Joan Collins and '60s catwalk icon Twiggy have also contributed designs.
The special bears will be auctioned through the V&A on the evening of February 25, 2010.
Past sales have proven that there can be a lot of money in collectible teddy bears.
Bearing in mind that a rare Steiff teddy, circa 1909, realised £10,560 at Bonhams, last November, Living Paintings may need something bigger than a town hall collection jar to store its sale's proceeds.
